SMILIEGAMES.COM ANNOUNCED AS WINNING SITE AT THE YELL.COM/AWARDS 2001

Yell.com has announced that SmilieGames.com is a winner in the Best Games Site category at the Yell.com/Awards 2001 - the people's choice of the 'best on the Net'. SmilieGames.com was presented with the award by Nell McAndrew (the original Lara Croft) at a glittering ceremony on October 3rd 2001.

Andrew Ball, a Director and Co-Founder of :)Smilie, said: "We are stunned and delighted to have won! At the Awards ceremony we were surrounded by large, massively funded organisations and companies. When we saw awards going to sites from the likes of Egg, the BBC, TimeOut and Sporting Life we didn't think we had a chance. However, I applaud the judges for recognising less prominent sites which continue to embrace the original spirit and entrepreneurial opportunities of the Internet. This was demonstrated not only in awarding :)Smilie Best Games Site 2001 but in the choice of overall winner. I would like to pay tribute to all our members of staff, for the skill and hard work they put into all sides of our business. This award is testament to their dedication."

John Condron, CEO of Yell.com said: "Now in their sixth year, the Yell.com/Awards have gone from strength to strength. We are thrilled to award SmilieGames.com this prize, in a year that has seen the number and quality of nominations far exceed our expectations. The Yell.com/Awards are the people's choice of the 'best on the Net' and SmilieGames.com should be very proud of this great achievement."

The winning websites were announced at an exclusive awards ceremony hosted by Graham Norton at the Atlantis Gallery in London. Sonique, Talvin Singh and Jocelyn Brown performed at the awards ceremony and guest presenters included Anthea Turner, Mark Lamarr and Vanessa Feltz.
